Spiritual Journey

Dear Friends,

I hope you are enjoying the summer months. It has been a while since my last newsletter. Life has kept me very busy! My journey has been to shed love and light. I feel so blessed that God and all in the universe have opened up doors for me to spread the messages coming from those in heaven. I, just like you and everyone in the world, am on a spiritual journey. Pena Chodra said, "Embarking on the spiritual journey is like getting into a very small boat and setting out on the ocean to search for unknown lands." I for one can attest to that! I never dreamed that I would be in the place I am in now! I surrendered to Spirit and literally said "lead me."

Long ago, while I was sitting in my office on Madison Avenue, I remember thinking that life had to be more than what I was living. I wanted more ... but didn't know what that 'more' really was. I finally put it in God's hands and my adventure began!! And it's going stronger than ever! I was called to an adventure; an awakening beyond my wildest dreams.

The poet, Rilke, asks the timeless question of the spiritual seeker: "Look, I live. And for what?" Yet he seems to know the answer to this question: We live in order to strengthen the soul. For Rilke knows that while our present lives are transitory, the soul is not. "I am circling around God," he says in The Book of Hours. "And I have been circling for a thousand years." He understands that his spiritual journey is on a scale much larger than that of our fleeting lives. We are being called to awaken!! The "awakening" may appear in myriad forms; a message, email, phone call, dream, book, the words of a friend or an acquaintance, the radio or television temptation, suffering, the loss of something precious, or a strange experience. It may be that something dramatically changes in your life. In my case, I opened my heart and eventually heeded the call to be on this amazing journey.

Awakening isn't always easy. It is frightening to embark on a journey not knowing where it may lead or how we may have to change. Change is scary! Yet, each person has a life mission, and once realized, it may seem too difficult or uncomfortable. Some may turn their backs on their awakening. And you may ask, if it's so difficult, why should we embark on a spiritual journey? I firmly believe that we don't have a choice. We are born to be on a spiritual journey. We are all here to grow spiritually. Such is life. Although, we are free to refuse, it is always there. We are called to realize not only our own full potential, but also to be a force of love and peace for the world. We re meant to grow as we embark on our spiritual journeys and we are also called to help others in their growth.

Know that God and all of heaven will be by your side as you walk on your unique path. You will be filled with God's love and your life will change ... for the better! I first was called when I was teenager. My experience was profound. I was sitting on my "stoop" outside my parent's home on Long Island. As I was staring up at the stars, I felt a presence of love filling my entire body and I began to cry. As the tears slipped down my face, I knew without question that I was in the presence of God. I will never forget that night or that experience. It took me a bit longer to surrender to God (I am not perfect!), and my journey has not always been easy, but I always called on God to be with me. Surrendering was a bit more difficult. Once I relinquished my ego and all my fears to God, my life has been better - not easier, but I see things in a different light which lowers my anxiety (hence, fear) which brings peace. It's important to recognize that in order to truly find God, you must find and love yourself. Some call this illumination.

In Mysticism, Underhill defines three characteristics of illumination: a joyous appreciation of the presence of God, a clearer view of reality, and a heightened energy state. As you connect to God's vibration, your own vibration will raise and you will begin to live with more compassion for yourself and others. You don't necessarily have to go to extremes. You don't need to suffer through it. Yet, we must humble ourselves; move away from our pride and put God first. Many people struggle with this "letting go," but once they move through it, they are happier.

One of the most difficult points in your journey may be when you feel that God has abandoned you. At this juncture, it is essential to keep your faith strong. God will never leave you. This is what St. John of the Cross calls the "dark night of the soul." This is the death of self, wanting nothing, desiring nothing. When there is no more of you left, God delivers His best -- union. After this you will enter a state of being in total partnership with God and blend with his energy and vibration in every aspect of your life. This is what every soul seeks. This vibration is experienced as a powerful force of love and peace, a feeling of overwhelming, magnificent power and truth.

Here are some tips to help you awaken to your own unique calling:

* Ask "What is my life about?" "Who am I?" "Why am I here?"

* Ask "What is the meaning of life?"

* Meditate and pray to let God, the angels and all of heaven into your heart.

* Be present and focus on your life and your routine.

* Align with other people who are also introspective.

Don't be frightened of the unknown in this journey; surrender to God and go with the flow! I can confirm that it has its ups and downs but is and exciting and rewarding ride. The miracles that God sends are amazing!! So many people are seeking extraordinary miracles and ignoring the small miracles that are brought to them. Open your eyes and your heart!! Awaken to the Divine and all the miracles that follow!! Once you begin to open to the small miracles; more and more will follow and the excitement inside of you will build. The seed is planted ... it is up to you to harvest.
